Though the World Allure with its Gilded Charm | B’aye ba n fa mi pelu ogo re (Verse 1 – 3) [English and Yoruba Lyrics]

Though the world allure with its gilded charms

“Though the world allure with its gilded charm” is translated as “B’aye ba n fa mi pelu ogo re” in Yoruba language. The hymn was written by C. Austin Miles an American gospel singer in the year 1912, but it has been translated into several languages across the seven continents. (Though the world allure…)

The hymn expresses the love of God, as a Father to mankind his Child. It covers John chapter 3 and chapter 10 in fewer verses, showing a sacrifices birth out of love to offer salvation to mankind. In line with John 10:29, it expresses a truth that every man that has believed in Christ is kept in the Father’s hand. (Though the world allure…)

Reminiscing on this hymn make me remember Charles Wesley, the brother of John Wesley who were the pioneering father of the Methodist Movement (You can read about this in “God’s General Volume 3 – The Revivalist”). The hymns of Charles Wesley complemented John Wesley sermons in that, they were more like a summary of the message which can be remembered more easily, and they foster meditation on God’s word as they are being sang repeatedly. English Version: Though the world allure with its gilded charm

Though the world allure with its gilded charm,
I’m a child of God, whom it cannot harm;
He will me uphold by His mighty arm,
Every moment of my day.

Chorus
I’ve a friend who will every need supply,
I’ve a home far beyond the starry sky,
And you know, that is just the reason why,
I am singing hallelujah!

I can never forget how upon the tree
Laid the Son of God, there to die for me;
Yet to save my soul, thus it had to be,
There could be no other way.

I would ever be true to my Lord and King,
Every waking hour praises to Him sing,
Knowing that at last He my soul shall bring,
Ever more with Him to stay.

Though the world allure

Yoruba Version: B’aye ba n fa mi pelu ogo re

📖 Text: Romans 5:1

[1] Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (KJV)

[1] Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. (NLT)

[1] Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV)

#A HEAD 🧐
1. Observation (What do I see?)
– Therefore
– being justified
– justified by faith
– we have peace with God
– through our Lord Jesus Christ

2. What does it MEAN?

📝
– Therefore

+ This bring to mind the context or the background of the passage, meaning that the progression in discussion is from a fact that has been previously established. In Romans chapter 4, Apostle Paul extensively explains that Abraham was reckoned (accounted) as righteous before God by faith (Genesis 15:6), even before he was circumcised, circumcision does not make a man righteous before God neither is there anything man can do to atone for his sins. But Jesus has been made a sacrifice for the sin of mankind and was resurrected that by faith in Christ we receive justification before God.

× Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

📝
– being justified

+ justified – dikaioō – to declare, pronounce, one to be just, righteous; to render (that is, show or regard as) just or innocent.

📝
– justified by faith

+ This justification is different because of the way it is received. It is received by faith; it is received by believing. Nothing else is needed, nothing else is required; to receive the justification that has been made available through Jesus Christ, man has to only believe in Jesus as the propitiation for our sins and the man that believes is saved immediately.

× Faith is just enough to receive justification from God, don’t think you need some series of things to do before the Father can count you as justified before Him. This was exactly what was addressed in Romans, they were making circumcision as criteria to be saved, to have right standing before God, which is wrong.

÷ The Lord deliberately made salvation to be easily obtained so that all mankind can participate, so that it would not be difficult for any race of man to receive the provision of God, so he gave it as a gift. I am gift by God, you are gifted by God, we are gifted by God to be justified by faith.

📝
– we have peace with God

+ John 3:36 (KJV)
[36] He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

× Every man that has being justified by faith has peace with God, the wrath of God is not on such a person, rather we now have everlasting life, eternal life. In John 17:3, eternal life is defined as knowing God and Jesus Christ, i.e. the Father now welcomes us to fellowship with him, to be intimate with him, the Father is willing to reveal himself to men, women, brothers, sisters, children, old and young that has believed that He raised Christ from the dead, that has receive His gift of justification through faith.

÷ God should not be seen as this scary judge that is ready to kill us immediately our thoughts start to stray; rather God is a loving Father that is guiding us on the path of righteousness. God is on our side because we have peace with Him, God is not the enemy, God is not a wicked taskmaster, rather He is the Father solving the problem we cause.

📝
– through our Lord Jesus Christ

+ All this we have received through Jesus Christ, as long has you have received Him as Lord and Saviour, believing with the heart and confessing with the mouth that God did raised Christ from the dead. (Romans 10:9 – 10)

3. What stood Out/ What issue is God Raising with me Today?
– At times we believers give the devil a chance to trouble us when our understanding of how God sees us is compromised, immediately you think God is at war with you, you start looking for a way to appease and ally, fighting your battle in the wrong direction. You have peace with God since the minute you believed in Christ.

– But I sinned! 1 John 2:1-2 (KJV)
[1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
[2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

– God is your Father not your enemy.

#B HEART: What is my ATTITUDE ❤ (Checking my attitude against the issue raised) / (How does the understanding of this truth makes me feel?)
– How can I be sure that I am justified by faith? Because Jesus said it, the Apostles said it, it’s written all over the epistle, it was prophesied even by the law and the prophets i.e. the Old Testament scriptures (Romans 3:21 – 26). Also, I start experience the presence of the Holy Spirit, who bears witness with my spirit that I am a child of God (Romans 8:16).

– How can God have peace with me, considering all I have done? It was through Jesus Christ, God himself paid the price so that we can come closer to him and have fellowship with him.

– How does God see me as a believer in Christ? He sees me as justified and righteous.

– How do I see God? God is my Father; God is my savior.

#PRAYER 🙏
– I thank you Lord because of your grace and goodness unto me.

– I thank you because you granted me salvation, justification, righteousness and eternal life as a free gift.

– (Ephesians 1:17) I pray that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: to know God more intimately. (Amen)
