Mark 1:35
[35] And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
#A. HEAD 🧐
1. OBSERVATION (What do I see?)
– In the morning
– Rising up a great while before day
– he went out
– and departed into a solitary place
– and there prayed.
2. What does it MEAN?
This verse is literally saying Jesus prayed, and the routine Jesus followed is also exhibited.
– In the morning: Jesus prayed in the morning.
– Rising up a great while before day: It becomes more specific that Jesus didn’t just wake from sleep and rushed a minute prayer. But He woke up at a time that, there would be sufficient time before the day’s work starts. It also passes a message that He is most likely more deliberate about the time He sleeps; and He won’t be busy with His android in the middle of the night if He really wants to wake up early.
– He went out: Jesus stood up from His sleeping position and left the room. This practically would definitely have saved me from all the moments I dozed off while praying, because I refused to stand up from my bed.
– and departed into a solitary place: Jesus went to a place where He would be alone. Jesus is literally practicing His own teaching in Matthew 6, where He says, “Pray to the Father is secret and the Father who sees in secret would reward you openly”. Prayer should not be for show off or as a status symbol, it should be a time honored and hallowed unto the Lord and the Lord alone.
– and there prayed: He prayed, after all the movement He prayed! He definitely wasn’t checking What’s App notification at this point, He prayed. What is prayer? Prayer is making intersession and supplication in the Spirit. Prayer is acknowledging and agreeing with the will of God, and making demands for God’s very own heart (God’s will) to be brought into manifestation in the flesh (from the Spirit to the earth/ physical realm). Prayer is fellowshipping with God, communing and paying attention to the Father.
3. What stood Out/ What issue is God Raising with me Today?
#B. HEART: What is my ATTITUDE ❤ (Checking my attitude against the issue raised) / (How does the understanding of this truth makes me feel?)
– If Jesus prayed while He is on earth, who shouldn’t pray?
– Regardless of How the situation is, I might not be praying like I should, but I must never give up on praying.
– I must learn to pray consistently till praying becomes a habit and a lifestyle.
– If I must pray then I must understand the one I speak to, the Father and His will, and the son through which I have access to the Father. Hence, I must understand the Holy scriptures that carries this truth there in.
#PRAYER 🙏
– I just feel somehow, I wonder how this minute would have turned out if it wasn’t spent here with God’s word. I thank you that I can feel your overwhelming joy and peace.
– I put my prayer life in your hands Lord, teach me to pray, help me to fix whatever is broken or improper in my prayer life. I pray never should there be a time where I would be found praying alone in the flesh, may my prayers be sponsored by the Spirit at all times. (Amen)
