Lyrics: Put Your Name On Me

VERSE 1
I was a wretch undone
Life in shambles nowhere to run
Stuck in a world of Shame
Everything changed when I called that Name

VERSE 2
First time I saw you move
Signs and wonders where in the room
My heart was overwhelmed
Your eyes where on me still
All of my days I’ll shout the name

CHORUS
Jesus (Oh how I love the name)
Jesus
Something happens when we call You
You move
You’ll never leave us the same

BRIDGE
I was Beggar, I was an Orphan
I put Your name on it
You put Your name on me
I was a Label, no Identity
I put Your name on it
You put Your name on me
I was Sinner, Thought it was Over
I put Your name on it
You put Your name on me
I was a Label, no Identity
I put Your name on it
You put Your name on me

Focus: Peace – 2.1

πŸ“– Text: Philippians 4:9

[9] Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
(Philippians 4:9 KJV)

#A HEAD 🧐
1. OBSERVATION (What do I see?)
– Those things

– which ye have both learned

– and received

– and heard

– and seen in me

– do

– and the God of peace

– shall be with you

2. What does it MEAN?
– Context: Philippians 4 is the last chapter of the epistle to the Philippians; it contains his final words of exaltation and instructions. From verse 6 – 7, He spoke of being careful for nothing, but after praying, we flow in the peace of God which is made available through Christ Jesus. From Vs 8, He starts to give instructions; and it sounds like the words in (James 2) – I will show my faith with my works. If you have faith in God, then these fruits should show in your works, you should be doing these things.

– Those things: From Vs 8, He describes them as true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, praiseworthy. And instructs that we should think of things that are of this nature, anything that fails one of these characteristics is not of God, and we should remove them out of our mind i.e. not think about them talk less of even doing them.

Β° This is in sync with Jesus’ words in (Matthew 5:27 – 28) – A man has committed adultery when he starts to lust after a woman even before he births his imagination into action. Hence, anything that doesn’t meet the criteria should not be allowed in the mind, it shouldn’t be imagined, such thoughts should be replaced with ones that meets this godly principle and he proceeds to describe these things that we should think upon as believers in Christ.

– Which ye have both learned: An example that he sets for the things that we should think upon are those things which we have learned, in this case it refers to what the Philippian church had learn from Paul who was their spiritual father; but in this age it directly infers what we learned from our pastor, learned from the Holy Scripture, learned in church, learned from the brethren, learned from books inspired by the Holy Spirit, audio messages, and different means through which we receive information. However, everything we learn must pass the criteria above else they are not of God but evil.

– and received: Learning should go beyond just knowing the information, but it should become a part and parcel of one life. In that what has being learned is now received as my philosophy of life. Hence, think upon these things that you have received.

– heard: Now he lays more emphasis, and emphasis is to show that what he is saying here is very important. The godly things that we have heard with our ear, think of these things.

– and seen in me: This brings to heart the role of a model, the godly virtues we see in godly models also qualify as something that should be kept in the meditation of our heart.

– do: Faith without works is dead. Do these things which you have learned, received, heard and see in me, in godly models, in the Holy Scriptures. Do them, acting against the word of God can be a hindrance to the grace of God, because we would be resisting God by our actions. (Romans 6:1) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? The grace of God is ever potent, but our conduct shows agreement with the will of God and is an exhibition of our faith with which we receive from God. Faith that doesn’t yield works, is no faith at all. Because I believe, I like life as a believer.

– and the God of peace: The same that was spoken of in Vs 7, that has a supernatural quality, being beyond understand and works in every situation to the end that the children of God are not anxious or baffled in any situation.

– shall be with you: Yes! this God patented peace which as an exceeding and superior quality shall be with

3. What stood Out/ What issue is God Raising with me Today?
I must be deliberate with the kind of information I allow to tarry on my mind, if I believe that the fruit of peace is deposited in me through the Holy Spirit, they I should also allow peace in my mind by meditating on the things of God, because meditating on other things cannot yield peace, rather they foster disspiritness.

– What I think about comes from my five senses, I must deliberately abstain from feed my eyes, my ears, my nose, my tongue, my skin things that doesn’t fall into the criteria of being true, honest, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, praiseworthy.

#B HEART: What is my ATTITUDE ❀ (Checking my attitude against the issue raised) / (How does the understanding of this truth makes me feel?)
– What do I feed my five sense that doesn’t fall into these godly criteria?

– How do I stop thinking about something that I have being engaged in before?
Β°Be not conformed to this world, but be thou transformed by the renewing of your mind with the word of God. Bothering about stopping a thought foster the thought, rather, do something else; meditate on God’s word with the same energy, let it become.
and habit to the end that the mind just always flows directly into thinking about the things of God, His promises, His commandments, and the manifestation of his power. πŸ˜„What a blessing!

– Am I learning the right things? Do what I am learning conform to the word of God?

– Does the Holy scripture encourage the principles that I uphold?

#PRAYER πŸ™
– I thank you because you have given me your peace freely to enjoy, I thank you because you are teaching me not to act in resistance to the peace that you have given me free.

– I thank you that through your Spirit that leaves in me, I can bring forth fruits that are fit for repentance; that I am being alive in the Spirit also walk in the Spirit, bringing glory to my Father who is in heaven that has ordained these godly things.

– I pray that the eyes of my understanding in enlightened that I may be able to perceive and understand your word, and I am saved from personal deceit and delusion. That I keep your word with a good heart and bear fruits with patience.

– I thank you Lord for you always hear me, I thank you that you always answer me even beyond me expectations, I thank you for I get to enjoy unlimited supply from your never-ending grace. Thanks a lot. 😊
