📖 Text: Acts 14:9-10 (Head and Heart)
[9] The same heard Paul speak: who stedfastly beholding him, and perceiving that he had faith to be healed,
[10] Said with a loud voice, Stand upright on thy feet. And he leaped and walked.
Acts 14:9-10

#A. HEAD 🧐
1. OBSERVATION (What do I see?)
– The same heard Paul speak
– who steadfastly beholding him
– and perceiving
– and perceiving that he had faith to be healed
– Said with a loud voice
– Stand upright on thy feet
– And he leaned and walked.

2. What does it MEAN?
– The same heard Paul speak
° Who heard Paul speak? A man at Lystra who has being crippled from the womb. This man has never walked before. (Acts 14:8)
° This healing/ miracle, happened while Paul was speaking, he was literally preaching the gospel. (Acts 14:7)

– The same heard Paul speak
° Faith cometh by hearing the word of God (Romans 10:17)

– much more of the signs that are to follow believers, has more room to manifest when the instruction of Jesus to teach the teach the gospel is obeyed (when I teach the gospel), it stir up faith in man and with the little mustard seed, mount Everest and Kilimanjaro moves, even the great Oceans become calm. Teaching the commandments of Jesus fosters all of this.

– who steadfastly beholding him
° This can be described with a scenario of a baby or a younger child that wants to beg or ask for something (especially when the older person is eating something nice). An adorable set of eyes just becomes glued to you, and it is just obvious that, bro! I want what’s on your hand.

° This typifies the character that receives, it is a character that stoops to ask, even the body language becomes involved, it shows the intent of the heart, as seeking and ready to receive.

° And it just came to mind, Jesus talking about being like a little child. He who can’t be like a child cannot enter the kingdom of heaven, and the same which is humble like a little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:1-4). The humility of a little child, the willingness to receive, stoops to learn, stoops to serve, the one the elders send around to do things in the house. Jesus says everyone should have the character of a child and be humble towards Him.

° He speaks of a great man who seems to be like a leader amidst the brethren, and he still says his greatness is attached to him being like a child, still humble. Another scripture describes this great man as meek (Galatians 6:1-2). The world operates in the exact opposite, but the Father’s kingdom doesn’t operate like the world does.

– and perceiving: Paul was sensitive, it shows that he was always observing those he speaks to. He is not just carried away by the eloquence of his speech, or in a hurry checking time so he can go relieve himself; rather, he is anticipating a manifestation of the seed he is sowing, coming out as fruits in the face of men.

° Sensitivity must not stop at having the nudge, but it should flow into having an understanding of the nudge and how to respond appropriately.

– and perceiving that he had faith to be healed: He had faith to be healed. Paul didn’t just go around forcing healing on anybody and everybody; Jesus wasn’t going to every house saying I must heal everyone here by fire by force. But the character of the Lord operates with the willingness of men, and he flows in the direction of a willing heart. Except some few occasions and testimonies that I have heard of God just showing off his power to silence the devil and gainsaying men; I learn and honor the principles, but I must never limit God! I never limit God.

– Said with a loud voice: He spoke like someone who is aware that he can command authority, he spoke like someone that has authority.

– Stand upright on thy feet: He didn’t pray to God here, he went on as Jesus said; “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils”… Jesus says do it, yes do it.

– And he leaped and walked: A manifestation of Jesus’ word in (Matthew 17:20), when you speak to it, it moves, and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Someone that has never walked since he was born, talk less of even learning how to walk, immediately starts walking and leaping.

3. What stood Out/ What issue is God Raising with me Today?
– Sensitivity must not stop at having the nudge, but it should flow into having an understanding of the nudge and how to respond appropriately. All these are available through the Spirit of God residing in us, I am aware of this, so I consciously tap it from the Spirit.

– I must expect that the preaching of the gospel changes me and the people that hear me. I must always anticipate that something is about to happen immediately the gospel is aired, for power is set loose in the atmosphere.

#B. HEART: What is my ATTITUDE ❤ (Checking my attitude against the issue raised) / (How does the understanding of this truth makes me feel?)
– I don’t lose hope when I am reaching out to anybody, I must remember that the word I carry is powerful enough to change the heart of men.

– I must have expectations of God’s will manifesting, it strengthens my vision, my imagination and thence receiving. It helps me to notice the hand of God immediately it waves close to me, it helps me to flow with the Lord. It makes me act like a baby, gluing my eyes to the Spirit, because I wan collect that thing, I wan use am.

#PRAYER 🙏
– I remember that day, fear just gripped my heart, and my heart literally skipped a beat and the half, right in the face of action.

I pray that I am continually strengthened with might by the Spirit. I am not ruled by all the powerlessness I see around me; I focus on the word of God, and I see every other thing as a lie.

The word of God influences me, transforms my heart, and renews me to the end that I am able to prove and wrought the true, acceptable and perfect will of God. (Amen)
